My first tip is to invest in good lip balm. I do have super tricky sensitive lips and most lip balms/ lipsticks don't work on my lips. My lips just get itchy and sore and it's just bad. So I'm very picky when it comes to lip care. Here are some lip balms that work amazing on my lips.
I really love the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Fragrance Free
. It's a multi use balm so you can basically use it everywhere but I like to use it on my lips as a lip balm. I also like the Smith's Mocha Rose lip balm which smells just like chocolate and it has a slight red tint to it. When I wear lipstick, I like to wear a bit more light and not-to-thick-and-rich lip balm so I wear the Christian Dior Lip Glow
. Another recommendation is to apply some Vaseline
. When I go to bed, I like to apply some Vaseline because it's very moisturizing and simple enough. And another one of my favorites is a lip balm from Curel (Curel Lip Balm
). Curel products are specifically made for people who have sensitive skin, and so their products always stay simple and gentle. This lip balm saved my life (lips) when I had a really really bad allergy on my lips when I was in high school, I tried hundreds of (maybe less) lip balms and none of them worked until I finally found this one. So if you have the same lip issue like I do, I highly recommend this one.
My second tip is to exfoliate. I like to use the lip scrub from LUSH, and currently I'm eager to try the Sara Happ lip scrub. Lip scrub is very easy and quick yet it gets the job done. You can buy one from LUSH or anywhere but I often make my own lip scrub because…. why not. So I'm going to share my recipe of my homemade lip scrub! It's so easy and you don't need any skills by any means when making this :)
You will need,
- A plate or any container to mix the ingredients
- A spoon
- Sugar (I just use the brown sugar because that is what I have but you can use any sugar you have in your kitchen)
- Honey
- Olive oil
- Sesame oil ….I'm using junko kusano multi oil
but you can use any sesame oil!
I usually just eye the amount of ingredients I use :)
Olive oil and honey will do the moisturizing part very well and they also help your lips revitalize.
Sesame oil has oleic acid which is antioxidant, and it basically helps anti aging on your skin. I often apply it onto my skin before I go to bed.
1. First mix olive oil and honey. We want the liquid to mix nicely before adding the sugar.
2. Once it's mixed nicely, add some sugar.
3. Keep mixing until they are fully mixed and even.
4. Lastly, add about 3 drops of sesame oil, and mix again.
5. Once you finished, it should look something like this. We don't want it too liquidy nor too dry. So add more sugar if it's too liquidy and add more olive oil and honey if it's too powdery. Doesn't have to be perfect at all.
It was super easy, right? I like to put the scrub into a little glass like this and I usually keep it for 3-4 days at room temperature (or in the fridge if you live in the warm area).
I like to use it after a bath because that's when my lips are softer and dead cell skin is easy to remove. But I also use the scrub in the morning when I wash my face. Just rinse it off with some warm water and your lips are good to go! <3
It literally takes about 2 minutes to make and you don't need to spend any money (if you have these ingredients at home!).
Just make sure to apply some lip balm after you use the lip scrub because you need to protect and moisturize your new lips.
Voila! Your lips are now soft and kissable♡
